History of Pickles
Achar, also known as Indian Pickles and in Telugu land known as Avakaya Pachadlu have been a part of the culture and history for 4000 years. The process is as ancient as our civilization; People first started salting and curing food in brines to preserve it for long journeys. According to New York Food Museums’’ Pickle History timeline, cucumbers that are native to India were first pickled in BCE 2030 in the Tigris Valley. The word ‘pickle’ itself comes from the Dutch word pickle, meaning brine.
Importance of Pickles
